A
quiet day in Knowle today.
After
breakfast Jane and I did our first supermarket shop of this trip.
Finding our way around Tesco in Monkspath was a bit of a mission, but we got what we needed eventually.
The
sun was shining, although there was rather a cool breeze, when we took Twiggy
for a walk around Knowle Park. Once off the lead she was quite manic chasing
and playing with every dog she saw – fortunately most were her size. Towards
the end of the walk she decided it would be fun to run up and down a shallow
stream. That necessitated a hosing down to remove the mud when we got back
which she didn’t like at all.

Twiggy
was very pleased to see Olivia when she was dropped home by Stella and Frank
and John and Ruth got a similar reception when they arrived home from
Scunthorpe shortly afterwards.
After
a light lunch which included pork pie (one of my English favourites) Jane
stayed at home with Olivia while John, Ruth and I walked up to Knowle and
Dorridge Cricket Club for a couple of pints of beer and to watch Liverpool play
Manchester City in a top of the table clash. While Liverpool were top and 6 points clear of City, the latter had three games in hand. Liverpool
completely dominated the first half and was 2-0 up at half time. After the
break City came out a transformed team and quickly made up the defecit causing
Ruth (an avid Liverpool fan) a great deal of anxiety. However, after about 20
minutes Liverpool picked up their performance and the match ended 3-2 to
Liverpool.
Late
afternoon Jane and I walked round to Phil and Kerry’s. There we all played in a
swingball tournament carefully organised by Amelia. I failed to qualify for the
semi-finals following round robin games, but Jane
got as far as the semis. The final was played by Phil and Amelia which Amelia
won. After that it was time for one of Phil’s famous roast dinners – this time
it was lamb with all the trimmings. Absolutely delicious!
