We didn’t wake up until
06:30 which is late for us. Probably something to do with losing the hour as we
moved on to Greek time. Outside it was light, but the sun wasn’t up yet. It felt
cool, Mabel’s gauge read 17°, which was cool after the heat of the day
yesterday.
At around 08:00 the Greek Airforce gave the camping ground a morning wake up call as two fighters from a nearby airbase climbed out over the camping ground.

At around 08:00 the Greek Airforce gave the camping ground a morning wake up call as two fighters from a nearby airbase climbed out over the camping ground.
Apart from the airforce's interruption we had a quiet start to
the day making good use of the wi-fi. I prepared more blog for publishing while
Jane added to her Facebook photographs. I find off an email to TomTom
expressing dissatisfaction with their service. Anna who is in a UK registered
left hand drive van parked next to us stopped to talk. We had met her
yesterday, she spoke in what my Mum would have called a ‘county voice’ –
English, posh. She has lived in Madrid since finishing university, I would
guess that would have been 30 years ago, at least. We didn’t get a clear fix on
her relationship with Chris with whom she is sharing the van. He obviously
travels a lot in the van and she catches up with him from time to time.
Anna had been told there
are loggerhead turtles on the beach at 5:00 am. She had gone down there at 5:30
but hadn’t seen anything. Chris dropped by and gave us some good tips on places
to see and stay in Turkey as well as demonstrating a Dutch App that he had
found very useful in locating good camping grounds. A good thing about it was you didn't need an internet connection to use it. Jane made a note to download it to her iPad.
It was getting very hot
under Mabel’s awning, her gauge read 38° which is possibly optimistic, but it
was hot. We headed to the beach for an hour and lazed in the shade of our beach
umbrella before returning to Mabel for lunch of bread and cheese. After lunch I
did some more blogging and Jane continued to work on Facebook. Then it was back
to the beach for some serious relaxation for the rest of the afternoon.
A German Family Spent Much Of The Afternoon Sailing |
We returned to the taverna for dinner ordering a mixed vegetable starter and grilled swordfish for me and fried calamari for Jane. After quite a long wait we were surprised when our mains came out and we hadn’t had our starter. We decided to stick with just the mains. My swordfish was very good, Jane described her calamari as average. When the bill arrived with two complimentary glasses of ouzo it included the starter which I queried. After a lot of debate among the staff the manager came over, apologised and knocked the price of the starter off the bill.
We had an early night
planning to get up early in the morning and see if we could spot any turtles on
the beach.
